In collaboration with @minouhiemstra, we’ll transform Pacific to a cosy cinema for the night (recap of our previous edition ;)). Kino, from the Greek kinesis meaning ‘movement,’ refers to films known for artistic, high-quality visuals. Often used by film lovers and younger generations to describe cinema at its finest. Tickets are including popcorn!
On Tuesday, January 7th, we're screening Malèna!
Malèna (2000), directed by Giuseppe Tornatore, is an Italian coming-of-age drama set in a Sicilian village during World War II. The story follows Renato, a young boy coming of age while becoming captivated by Malèna, a beautiful but lonely woman in the village. Played by Monica Bellucci, Malèna faces gossip, jealousy, and loss, as Renato observes her struggles from a distance. With a stunning score by Ennio Morricone, the film received two Oscar nominations for Best Cinematography and Best Original Score.
On Wednesday, January 22nd, we're screening Pulp Fiction!
Pulp Fiction (1994), directed by Quentin Tarantino, is an iconic crime film featuring a star-studded cast, including John Travolta, Uma Thurman, and Samuel L. Jackson. The film is renowned for its non-linear storyline, sharp dialogue, and a blend of dark humor and violent scenes. It won the Palme d'Or at Cannes, an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, and received seven Oscar nominations. With worldwide earnings of over €190 million on a modest €7.5 million budget, the film is considered one of the greatest and most influential of all time.
