KINO PACIFIC

KINO PACIFIC
Wednesday March 5th 2025 Wednesday March 19th 2025

In collaboration with @minouhiemstra, we’ll transform Pacific to a cosy cinema for the night (recap of our previous edition ;)). Kino, from the Greek kinesis meaning ‘movement,’ refers to films known for artistic, high-quality visuals. Often used by film lovers and younger generations to describe cinema at its finest. Tickets are including popcorn!

On Wednesday, March 5, we're screening Blow (2001)!
Blow (2001) is a hard-hitting crime drama about George Jung, played by Johnny Depp, the man who introduced America to large-scale cocaine trafficking in the ’70s and ’80s. Directed by Ted Demme, the film shows how George transforms from an ordinary guy into a top-level dealer working with the notorious Medellín Cartel. Big money, fast cars, bad friends - and ultimately, inevitable downfall.

Depp’s performance and the film’s gripping, raw style turned Blow into a cult favorite. This isn’t your typical glamorous gangster film - it’s a raw look at how fast everything can fall apart when you fly too close to the sun.

On Wednesday, March 19, we're screening Léon: The Professional (1994)!
Léon: The Professional (1994) is a gritty action classic by Luc Besson, starring Jean Reno as Léon, a quiet hitman who lives by his own strict code—until he meets young Mathilda (Natalie Portman in her debut role). After her family is brutally murdered by a corrupt DEA agent (Gary Oldman), Mathilda seeks refuge with Léon and begs him to teach her how to get revenge.

The intense performances, stylish action, and the layered bond between Léon and Mathilda made Léon an iconic film. Hard, emotional, and undeniably unforgettable.
